Candle Care

Candle Safety

  1. Never leave a burning candle unattended
  2. Keep away from children, pets, and flammable materials
  3. Do not burn your candle for longer than 4 hours.  This can damage the wick which may cause it to fall over, lift or result in an undesirable burn.
  4. Avoid using in drafty areas, near an open window, air duct or fan.

Candle Care Guide

How to get the best performance from your Candle.

  1. First burn should melt top layer of wax evenly, , burn for a minimum of 2 hours or until the wax melts across the entire surface of the jar. This prevents tunnelling and creates an even burn.
  2. Always trim the wick before each new burn to 5mm to get the most out of your candle, and to limit mushrooming of the wick
  3. If you get black on the inside of jar, wipe with a tissue or damp cloth once candle has been extinguished, cooled, and set
  4. Extinguish candle with a candle snuffer, otherwise blow gently and steadily on the flame until it is extinguished, to avoid splashing of Wax, and displacement of wick..
  5. If the candle is not burned regularly, keep your candle covered to avoid dust build-up.

During temperature changes, coconut soy wax will sometimes release excess oil. This often occurs after shipping across the country and is known as ‘sweating’. This will not affect the candle, nor usually reappear after the initial burn. To remove the oil, use a paper towel to gently wipe it clean.

Beach House candles are all hand poured and not massed produced. Although every effort is made to ensure consistency, each candle is unique. When using natural wax, sometimes you may notice darker patches or wet spots in your container. This is not a fault of the candle – simply a characteristic of natural wax where it has not 100% adhered to the glass. This does not affect the candle in any way. It’s how you know it’s a completely natural wax.

Cleaning The Jar After Use

  1. Add a drop of dishwashing liquid
  2. Add boiling water to the top of the jar, and leave overnight.
  3. Lift out hardened excess, and wash the jar with hot soapy water.
